Our first trip back to the States since we moved to London in November 2015 was to Philadelphia, and then on to New Hope, to celebrate our friends Courtney & Ryan!
We landed in Philadelphia late Friday night and checked in to a hotel near the airport. I told Shane that we should try to stay up as late as possible to adjust to the time zone but we both fell asleep as soon as we got in - at 9pm. I woke up at 4am Saturday morning, ready to go. We went downstairs for breakfast at 6am, only to discover that it didn't start until 7am, so we headed back to our room to research things that we could do in Philadelphia that morning. After our breakfast at 7am, we headed to downtown Philadelphia to do a tour of Independence Hall and see the Liberty Bell. We were the first ones in line and got to share our tour with a boy scouts group!
After our tour, we did a bit of bit of shopping and then drove to New Hope.
New Hope is an adorable quaint river town about 45 minutes north of Philadelphia. We checked-in to our hotel and then set out to explore the town making stops at the various shops including the beef jerky, popcorn and candy shop for a few snacks. Julie & Geoff arrived in New Hope shortly after us so we grabbed lunch with them at a spot on the main street that had an outdoor heated terrance and enjoyed some quality people watching. After lunch we headed back to the hotel to wait for the rest of our friends to arrive.
That evening we reunited with Courtney & Ryan at their rehearsal dinner at Marsha Brown's. The restaurant was located in an old church and the food was amazing.
The next day we explored New Hope and Lambertsville (the town across the river), had a late lunch and then got ready for the wedding.
The wedding was beautiful, the food was fantastic and we had the best time dancing the night away with the Courtney & Ryan!
We had an early evening flight on Monday so we spent a bit more time in New Hope with Holly & Curtis, who had a later flight as well, before heading back to Philadelphia to catch our flight.
We were so glad to be able to celebrate Courtney & Ryan and catch-up with our friends!
